What is the maximum selling price you can put on your Amazon listing?

💰 BILLION DOLLAR STRATEGIES
what you need to know to make moolah

Positioning is how a product uniquely fulfills the needs of a well-defined set of customers.

It's not just about messaging or branding, but involves setting the context for your product in the market. This influences customer assumptions about your product's features, competitors, target audience and pricing.

Here are 2 positioning examples from a product I sold from 2015-2018 (I spoke about this in detail at last week’s BDSS 9 with many more examples).

I recommend you have a gander at April Dunford’s guide to positioning. It’s better than the traditional positioning statement approach many teach because it use a customer-centric methodology to find the best positioning for your product.

She says you should consider five key components:

  1. Competitive Alternatives: Understand what customers would do if your product didn't exist. This helps in identifying the real competition, which may not always be direct or obvious competitors.

  2. Differentiated Features or Capabilities: Identify what your product does that competitors' products cannot. This involves a deep understanding of your product's unique strengths and how they stand out in the market.

  3. Value for Customers: Translate your differentiated features into clear customer benefits. Why should customers care about your product? Focus on the value it brings to them.

  4. Target Customer Segmentation: Determine who your ideal customers are based on who values your product the most. This involves segmenting your market and identifying the characteristics of customers who are most likely to purchase your product.

  5. Market Category: Choose the right market category for your product that makes its value obvious to your target customers. This may involve positioning your product within an existing category or creating a new one, depending on what most effectively communicates your product's unique value.

🌎 STATS YOU SHOULD KNOW

📜 SAVE TIME GRABBING & ANALYZING SQP DATA

A handy Chrome extension is the new SQP Fetcher. It’s designed to assist Amazon sellers in efficiently analyzing their search query performance across various ASINs and marketplaces.

By allowing the input of numerous ASINs and offering flexible reporting options, such as consolidating data into a single CSV or generating individual reports per ASIN, this tool streamlines the process of gathering crucial performance metrics.

🛍️ NEW LOW INVENTORY FEES EXPLAINED

Amazon’s introduction of the low inventory fee in 2024 is one of the more unusual fees released in the past few years by Amazon. But it’s not the only one on tap. This chart from Getida highlights which are potentially good, and which are not.

The Low Inventory fee impacts you as a potential expense but also affects your cash flow by forcing you to buy, stock and maintain more inventory.

Your 30-day and 90-day historical days of inventory are the basis on how this charge is applied. But many sellers are confused on how it’s calculated.

Checkout this excellent detailed explanation from Marketplace Prep.

When incurred, the Low Inventory Fee is applied to future orders (until you stock up again or sell out), based on historical stock levels.

Every order After the recalculation (Sunday Night/Monday Morning), will get hit with the fee if that calculation does not pass the 30-Day, 90-Day, and New ASIN test.

You will be stuck with this fee for 7 days of sales because Amazon does not calculate these metrics daily.

This free Low Inventory Calculator, while not taking into account all factors you may need to consider for your specific business, will help you get a ballpark estimate of what you are facing:

😱 GET THOSE SH*T REVIEWS OFF YOUR LISTINGS

Chad Rubin is at it again sharing massive value on Linkedin.

He just released a FREE MEGA PROMPT with step by step instructions to use AI to automate those sh*t reviews off your Amazon product listing.

⚖️ IP ALERT CHROME EXTENSION for AMAZON

An IP complaint is when a brand flags your account to Amazon, claiming that you’re unlawfully selling their product or products without their approval.

"We received a report from a rights owner that claims the items at the end of this email infringe their trademark."

These formal complaints have become increasingly common on Amazon as brands become choosier about who they let sell.

IP Alert is a Chrome plugin that predicts whether selling a given product will result in an IP complaint. The app pulls from a user-generated list of brands that have previously given grief to sellers over IP violations.

With the plugin activated, every time you’re browsing a listing on Amazon, a pop-up will appear alerting you when a brand has been flagged. The plugin also alerts users to problematic generic listings.
